Truro Youth String Orchestra

Over the last few years, Truro Youth String Orchestra has gone from strength to strength continuing to grow in both confidence and size. In November 2014, TYSO were invited to perform Andrew Wilson's work 'Omphra's Laugh' at the Music for Youth School'd Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Other highlights for the orchestra have included performing alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Plymouth Pavilions, supporting the Philharmonia Orchestra in an iOrchestra series concert on Lemon Quay, and performing in the world premier of local compose Russell Pascoe's work 'A Different Child' with St.Mary's Singers and soloists at Truro Cathedral.

So far this year, TYSO's ever-varied repertoire has included the 'St Paul's Suite' by Gustav Holst, Bartók's wild 'Romanian Dances', and the contemporary work 'Soundposts' by Scottish composer John Maxwell Geddes, which TYSO will perform together with its sister string ensembles from Penzance, Truro College, and East Cornwall at the Music for Youth regional Festival in February.
