The Hub organises large scale events to inspire young people to get involved with music and to encourage them to progress
Songfest - A Celebration of Singing!
Since 2016, the Hub has worked with thousands of children on its countywide vocal project, Songfest. Each year has a different theme and involves schools working together to form massed choirs in venues across the county.
In 2020 we were due to work with 92 different schools from around the county and hold performances from Penzance to Plymouth. Unfortunately, with the outbreak of COVID-19, most of our concerts had to be cancelled. However, we will be back in 2021, bigger than ever before! Schools are invited to sign up for Songfest 2021 - Reflect, Rebuild, Re-Sing! We are hoping that live concerts will be possible by March 2021 and we are booking venues across the county, but we will also have plans in place for online events to ensure the safety of all participants.
Hubbub - Free Music Festivals for Children and Young People
Every summer, we hold our Hubbub festivals which are free for the children and young people of Cornwall. The purpose of these events is to bring lots of children together in a celebration of all things musical, and to allow children to find out about new types of music by taking part in workshops.
In 2019 we again held two festivals, one in Wadebridge and one at Heartlands in Pool. These events were attend by nearly 1500 children!
In 2020, Hubbub went online for the first time due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Nearly 6000 children from 95 schools signed up to participate in the day of online workshops which included world music, body percussion, beatboxing, mindfulness and Rainbow Pond Music.
