BBC Music Day is coming to Cornwall on Friday 3rd June 2016!
After a first outing in 2015, BBC Music Day returns on Friday 3 June 2016 and they are looking for groups to be involved!  Last year, the very first BBC Music Day featured over 20 live music events, including a 73-mile musical relay from dawn to dusk along Hadrian’s Wall, a special educational needs and disability youth concert with The British Paraorchestra in Bristol, and a record-breaking musical event in Cardiff, reaching an audience of over 15 million on TV, Radio and online.  The event is returning on Friday 3rd June 2016 with the theme of 'learning to play an instrument', from the most simple to the more complex!
The Cornwall Music Education Hub is partnering with BBC Music to hold a day of music activities in St. Austell, this will include pop up performances, drop in music taster workshops and a parade through St Austell town centre.  We are also looking for singers/choirs to be part of a massed sing!
In addition, the BBC Concert Orchestra will be holding a special concert at the Hall for Cornwall and will be joined by the Cornwall Family Orchestra and Chorus.
Timetable of Activities - St Austell Town Centre
Free Performances - Aylmer Square, White River Place
10.30 and 12.00 - Dalla

Local folk group, Dalla, were founded by stalwarts of the Cornish Celtic music scene, Neil Davey and Hilary Coleman back in 1999. They were joined by Bec Applebee and Jen Dyer, both hugely talented musicians and prominent members of the local music scene.  Dalla will be performing two 45 minute sets at 10.30 and 12.00  in the Aylmer Square performance marquee.
13.15 and 16.00 - Kabasa

Kabasa is Cornwall's premier Latin  party band. Their vibrant feel-good sound has been filling dance floors for over 8 years. Their mix of funked up, vintage Latin tunes are guaranteed to get the crowd moving  with uplifting horns, mellow vocals, hot percussion and dynamic arrangements.  Kabasa will be performing two 45 minute sets at 13.15 and 16.00
14.15 - Whirlwinds and St Austell Youth Band
Whirlwinds is a wind band made up of local young players led by Anna Minear.  They will be performing alongside the St Austell Youth Band at 14.00 in Aylmer Square
15.00 - The Big Cornish Sing with Oll an Gwella

Oll an Gwella will be leading the Big Cornish Sing in Aylmer Square at 15.00.  This a capella male voice chorus will be leading a selection of well known cornish tunes and sea shanties for everyone to join in.
