As the south west's professional orchestra and a key partner of the Cornwall Music Education Hub, the BSO regularly visit Cornwall to offer a series of workshops, masterclasses and concerts to the young people and communities of Cornwall.
In November 2017, we will again be working with the players of the BSO to offer schools a programme of inspiring musical experiences. Further details to follow!
The BSO 2017 Spring residency - 26th March - 1st April 2017
In March 2017, the Hub worked with the BSO once again to bring their players to work with schools and youth ensembles across Cornwall as part of the Hub's ongoing support for music education. BSO made music in 56 locations between Launceston and the Isles of Scilly, making this the largest participation project undertaken by BSO Participate, building on the success of the residency in 2015.
3,689 school children making music
52 school visits
531 hours of music in schools and communities
Teachers from visited schools were asked to fill in a short evaluation form and give their experience with the BSO a star rating. On average, workshops scored 4.91 stars out of 5 for the whole week, with 92.8% of schools rating 5 stars and 100% of schools rating 4 stars or more
