Vocal Training for Teachers - The Whole Voice with Lin Marsh
3rd February, 10.00 – 3.30 at the Hall for Cornwall, Truro  (Rehearsal Room)
The Cornwall Music Education Hub is excited to be welcoming to Cornwall, Lin Marsh, renowned vocal specialist and composer.  Lin will be delivering a one-day course for primary teachers which will draw on her extensive experience of working with young singers. 'The whole voice’ looks at all vocal work across Key Stages 1 and 2 and is suitable for both specialists or non-music specialists.  Lin’s unique style and experience will make this day both memorable and worthwhile for all attendees!
This training course is open to any primary school teacher in Cornwall, as well as community practitioners who deliver vocal work in primary schools. To book a place on this free training, please email
About Lin Marsh
Lin Marsh trained at Trinity College of Music and London University, later gaining an MA in Performance Arts at Middlesex University. She has worked extensively in music education in all sectors and with organisations such as the London Mozart Players, Birmingham Symphony Hall Education, The Royal Opera House Education department, Glyndebourne Education, Opera North and Youth Music Theatre UK. As a voice specialist, Lin works throughout the country running courses for teachers on singing, performance and composing skills, and directs many choral festivals for all key stages, as well as presenting and adjudicating festivals.  Lin is also a prolific composer and has written for BBC children’s programmes for both television and radio. Lin is much in demand for vocal coaching linked to Music Theatre singing and works both in the UK and abroad with groups of teachers and young performers.

Voces8 are an acappella vocal octet and, since their foundation in 2005, have become one of the most versatile and best loved singing groups in the world. They have a diverse repertoire ranging from early English and Renaissance music, through the centuries to their own modern arrangements.
Gramophone Magazine said, “They bring a new dimension to the word 'ensemble'”. Their commitment to inspiring people through music includes their unique educational programmes, choral scholarships, summer school, and London music education hub.

Their programme also includes works from Heinrich Schutz, Felix Mendelssohn, Stefan Claas, Thomas Tallis, Sergei Rachmaninov, John Bennet and Robert Pearsall.
CMEH is part funding a workshop with Voices8 on Friday 15th January for young vocalists.  This workshop has been organised by Truro College, Truro 3 Arts and Christine Judge of the Cornwall Music Service Trust.   The workshop will be followed by a public concert.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra 2016 Residency

The BSO are inviting musicians from across Cornwall to work with their Associate Musician, Patrick Bailey, along with a string quartet of BSO players for one day only, creating a brand new piece of music – from scratch – in just 3 hours.  Joining forces with Liskeard’s regular “Sounds Vital” project, musicians will form an ensemble of mixed instruments and work together to create rhythms, melodies and musical phrases to form a brand new composition, ready for a sharing to family and friends at 2.00 pm. The sharing will also include performances by the local Sounds Vital ensemble and the BSO string quartet.  Pre-booking required to attend the workshop.

The Cornwall Music Education Hub's county brass ensemble, CYBE, will be performing at Carharrack Methodist Chapel as part of the chapel's bicentenary celebrations
The Carharrack 200 Festival Week will take place from Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November 2015. There will be special events each day including the opening night of the Festival when there will be a Musical Evening with Carharrack Voices. During the week there will be dance and musical items from RedYouth, Cornwall Youth Brass Ensemble and a concert by the Carharrack & St Day Youth Band and St Day & Carharrack Community School Choir.
