Songfest vocal showcases

Songfest  - A Celebration of Singing!

In March 2016, the Hub worked with 40 schools from around Cornwall on its first county-wide vocal project which culminated in six concerts in five different venues.  The first half of each concert featured performances by the CMEH Choirs, local young singers and groups, whilst the second half of each show featured a different massed choir made up of local schools performing Ocean Commotion, Debbie Campbell's colourful and engaging environmental musical for young singers.    In 2017, we worked with another 40 schools to offer a series of six concerts for our Rockin' all over the World tour and in 2018 we celebrated the seasons with a mammoth 9 concerts featuring singers from over 75 schools!

Songfest 2019 - Lights, Camera, Action!

Following the success of Songfest 2018 we are delighted to inform you of the Songfest 2019 Twilight meetings for schools.

The series of Twilight meetings are arranged across Cornwall during June, so that the vocal leaders, Patrick Bailey and Angela Renshaw can introduce Songfest 2019 to you all,  go through the selection of songs for Songfest 2019,  and inform you of all current planning and the all-important Songfest performance dates and venues. The theme for Songfest 2019 is 'Lights! Camera! Action!, songs of the stage and screen.

Due to the nature of Songfest in 2019, we ask that schools register to take part before Wednesday 4th July 2018 at very latest,  in order to guarantee a place in one of our performances in 2019. Any requests arriving after this date will not automatically be allocated a participation slot due to the maximum number of schools we can accept to perform in each venue. We welcome requests from both Primary and Secondary schools.

Should you not be able to personally make the Twilight in your local area, please do ask a colleague to represent your school, or attend one of the other meetings being held elsewhere. Please email the Hub office to confirm your attendance at a Twilight meeting, giving details of which venue you will be attending - CMEH@cornwall.gov.uk
