The Cornwall Music Education Hub, (CMEH), has a large pool of instruments which may be hired by any individual or organisation, depending on availability.
Hire cost is between £21.60 and £38.40 per term (including VAT); however certain instruments such as guitars, keyboards and saxophones are not normally available.
The maximum hire period for an instrument is four terms, at which point they are serviced and restocked for new pupils. This hire period gives ample time for parents and carers to be certain of their child’s commitment and investigate purchasing their own instrument.
A £7.50 (plus VAT) delivery/collection charge will automatically be added to the cost of the first term’s hire. Instruments will be delivered to and collected from your child's school by courier.

Students in receipt of Free School Meals, Children in Care and children of Services Families can apply for a 50% subsidy on their instrument hire fee. Please indicate on your instrument hire form if your child is eligible for this.
Classroom sets of instruments for hire
The Hub has a number of class sets of instruments that can be hired from the Hub at a subsidised rate. The sets are ideal for First Access.
Returning an instrument?
If you wish to return an instrument which you have hired from us, please take the instrument to your child's school reception and email us at CMEH@cornwall.gov.uk with the following details so that we can log the return and organise collection:
- Pupil Name
- Pupil Reference
- Instrument Serial Number
- School Name
- Teacher Name
- Date Returned
- Where the instrument has been left.
