Live Stream - Rachel Podger’s Masterclass from the National Centre for Early Music

Part of the York Baroque Strings Project, with the internationally acclaimed violinist Rachel Podger and young string players from York Arts Academy Symphony Orchestra, will be live streamed on Saturday 29 March at 1.15pm for 45 minutes.

During the live stream, Rachel will discuss and demonstrate topics they have worked on that morning, such as bowing, phrasing, articulation and ornamentation, then get the participants to try them out. The York Baroque Strings Project is a year-long collaboration between the National Centre for Early Music, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and York Arts Academy, giving young string players the opportunity to explore baroque music and style with some of today’s most experienced baroque specialists. Violinist Rachel Podger is one of the most exciting performers of baroque music today, with an international career as a soloist and ensemble director. Her recordings have received a glittering array of awards, including the Diapason d’Or and a Gramophone Award. She is also an experienced teacher, both of conservatoire students and younger musicians. As a leading interpreter of baroque music, she has a huge amount of knowledge to pass on to teachers and young people and the communication skills to ensure that participants truly benefit from her experience.
