Songfest 2016 - A Vocal Showcase

Songfest 2016, a showcase performance of vocal excellence, will take place in four different venues across Cornwall, over a period of five nights in March 2016. A total of 40 schools will perform in massed choirs in the following locations:

• Hall for Cornwall - Truro
• Falmouth - Princess Pavilions
• Penzance - Chapel Street Methodist Church
• Launceston - Town Hall

Invitation to Perform

Whilst the second half of each show will feature a performance of ‘Ocean Commotion’ by a massed choir of local schools, we would like to invite secondary schools, colleges and other settings to nominate soloists and vocal groups to perform in the first half. Each act will be able to perform one song of their own choice.

Should you wish to include instruments in your performance these must be acoustic. You can either perform a solo item or in a small group, we don’t mind. Each venue will be equipped with a piano plus mics.

We will require all performers to be present at the technical rehearsal on the day itself and you will need to provide your own transport to the venue for the rehearsal and performance. All technical rehearsals will take place during the early afternoon from 13.30pm to 15.00pm in the venues themselves. Please note: This is an important requirement of the performance; we will not be able to offer technical rehearsals at any other times during the day, so please check that you will be available before you commit to a performance.

• Monday 14th March 2016 ~ Penzance
• Tuesday 15th March 2016 ~ Launceston
• Wednesday 16th March 2016 ~ Launceston
