Vocal Training for Teachers - The Whole Voice with Lin Marsh
3rd February, 10.00 – 3.30 at the Hall for Cornwall, Truro (Assembly Room)
The Cornwall Music Education Hub is excited to be welcoming to Cornwall, Lin Marsh, renowned vocal specialist and composer. Lin will be delivering a one-day course for primary teachers which will draw on her extensive experience of working with young singers. 'The whole voice’ looks at all vocal work across Key Stages 1 and 2 and is suitable for both specialists or non-music specialists. Lin’s unique style and experience will make this day both memorable and worthwhile for all attendees!
This training course is open to any primary school teacher in Cornwall, as well as community practitioners who deliver vocal work in primary schools. To book a place on this free training, please email the Hub Manager, Tanya Moore- [email protected]
About Lin Marsh
Lin Marsh trained at Trinity College of Music and London University, later gaining an MA in Performance Arts at Middlesex University. She has worked extensively in music education in all sectors and with organisations such as the London Mozart Players, Birmingham Symphony Hall Education, The Royal Opera House Education department, Glyndebourne Education, Opera North and Youth Music Theatre UK . As a voice specialist, Lin works throughout the country running courses for teachers on singing, performance and composing skills, and directs many choral festivals for all key stages, as well as presenting and adjudicating festivals. Lin is also a prolific composer and has written for BBC children’s programmes for both television and radio. Lin is much in demand for vocal coaching linked to Music Theatre singing and works both in the UK and abroad with groups of teachers and young performers.
NYCGB Workshops
The Cornwall Music Education Hub is continuing its partnership with the vocal specialists of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain in order to offer these forthcoming development opportunities for young people and vocal leaders. These workshops are being offered as part of the Hub's Vocal Development Strategy.
19th September 2015 - Come and Sing with Esther Jones

Join NYCGB Deputy Musical Director Esther Jones for a vocal workshop, experience what it’s like to sing with NYCGB and perform an exciting repertoire. This workshop will help to demystify the choir audition process.

This exciting opportunity is open to students aged 16 plus
This is an opportunity for you to develop your own work on vocal compositions for BTEC, GCSE or A level or for personal vocal development, receive feedback and advice from composer Ben Parry and also hear your work performed by some of the country’s finest young singers.
Funded by Cornwall Music Education Hub, the weekend is free and will be led by Ben Parry, composer and director of NYCGB and Greg Hallam director of NYCGB boys choir. The Fellowship Octet will be present during the weekend to perform a selection of the compositions.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra 2015 Residency
In April 2015, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra made their home in Cornwall for an ambitious programme which included:
- 60 professional musicians
- 6 days of musical activities in 20+ locations across Cornwall
- 3 chamber concerts, 1 full orchestra concert, 1 tea dance
- 22+ school and community visits
- A culmination event for an ensemble of 200+ musicians, involving local community players alongside the BSO players
