Cornwall Young Vocal Leaders Programme

The Cornwall Young Vocal Leaders Programme is a new initiative for students aged 16 -19 interested in becoming vocal leaders. The programme has been developed by the Hub's Vocal Lead, Angela Renshaw, in collaboration with national vocal specialists, Sing For Pleasure.

The Young Vocal Leader scheme will begin in September 2016 with a programme of five training days, spread across the Autumn and Spring terms, and will culminate in a showcase of choral work in March 2017. All applicants must be able to commit to the full schedule of training days including the final two sessions held on week days (by permission of school/college/work). We have 10 free places available on this training programme.

Wednesday 22nd March 2017 13.30-17.30

The training will be delivered by Ula Weber, senior conducting tutor and Head of Events for Sing for Pleasure. A choral animateur, singer, teacher trainer, conductor and workshop leader, Ula’s work has taken her as far afield as Poland, Ukraine, Thailand and China. Ula currently conducts SO Vocal (the 200-strong community choir of CBSO), Birmingham City Council Choir (featured in BBC2’s programme ‘The Choir’), Echo Doliny (a national Polish folk choir) and the recently formed National Teachers’ Choir (who performed at the opening of the 2015 ‘Teach First’ conference). She is in great demand as a workshop leader across the country

Application Process

The cohort of ten Young Vocal Leaders will be selected through a simple application process, in which we would like you to explain your reasons to become part of the programme. Applicants must have vocal experience, either as a choir member or soloist, in any vocal genre or style.

The closing date for all applications is Thursday 30^th June 2016.
